Manchester United manager Michael Carrick has admitted uncertainty over his future at the club following Sunday’s 3-0 defeat to Bournemouth in the English Premier League.

Carrick said he would continue working as normal despite mounting pressure on him after United suffered another disappointing result at Old Trafford.

The defeat extended United’s winless run in all competitions to eight matches, increasing questions about the manager’s position.

Bournemouth took the lead through Rayan in the 38th minute before Marcus Tavernier doubled the visitors’ advantage five minutes later.

Evanilson sealed the victory in the second half after capitalising on a mistake by United goalkeeper Senne Lammens.

Speaking after the match, Carrick said he understood the uncertainty surrounding his position but was not expecting any particular decision from the club’s hierarchy.

“I totally understand the situation. I’m not expecting anything in particular, to be honest. I’m carrying on as normal. I love this place,” he said.

He added that he would continue to do what he believed was best for Manchester United, regardless of the decision taken by the club.

Carrick also confirmed that club officials had briefly spoken with him after the match but said the interaction was nothing out of the ordinary.

Asked about the team’s poor run, he admitted there was no single explanation for the results.

“If I really had the answers, I wouldn’t have let it happen. If I could do something about it and there was something I could really control, then I would have,” he said.

The manager also expressed disappointment over the result, saying several players were hurt by the team’s performance.

United’s latest defeat leaves them struggling in the league table, with their next Premier League fixture against Chelsea scheduled for October 31.

Carrick’s future at Old Trafford remains uncertain as the club considers its response to the team’s continued poor form.
