 Suarez set for Atletico Madrid move

Luis Suarez has reportedly agreed personal terms with Atletico Madrid ahead of his looming exit from Barcelona.

The forward, whose contract runs out next year, was deeemed surplus requirements by new Barca coach Ronald Koeman, with the Dutchman telling him to find a new club.

Spanish sports publication Mundo Deportivo said Atletico Madrid had agreed a deal with the player that will keep in the La Liga for two more seasons.

Suarez had earlier been in talks with Serie A club Juventus, but a deal had collapsed due to the Uruguayan’s inability to procure an Italian passport on time.

Juventus gaffer Andrea Pirlo said “it is difficult for Suarez to be Juve centre forward” in a press conference ahead of the the Biaconeri’s season opener against Sampdoria.

Suarez is Barcelona’s third highest goalscorer in history, with 196 goals to his name. He joined the Blaugrana from Liverpool and helped them win the Champions League title in 2017.

However, a series of poor performances in the last two seasons have seen the player’s stock drop at the Catalan outfit, culminating in new coach Koeman showing him the way out.
