Alleged IPOB members attack police station in Ebonyi

Hoodlums suspected to be members of the Indigenous Peoples of Biafra (IPOB) attacked Central Police Station in Ebonyi on Monday.
The hoodlums reported set fire to motorcycles, tricycles and cars at the station, located around the Abakaliki-Enugu Highway in Ebonyi.
IPOB leader, Nnamdi Kanu, had called for his followers to mount protests in the South-South and South-East regions of the country.
The protest had been peaceful in the state until some people who identified themselves as IPOB members attacked the police station in Abakaliki.
According to reports, the attack was a retaliatory measure against the police who allegedly killed two IPOB members in a clash at the station premises last week.
The Ebonyi Commissioner of Police, Philip Maku, confirmed the incident but rejected claims that the police killed IPOB members.
He said: “We are the ones being brutalised. One of the two Policemen that were wounded last week later died.”
