National Assembly adjourns plenary till September 20

By Dayo Badmus,

The National Assembly yesterday went on a seven-week break till September 20.

This followed the adjournment of plenary by Senate President Ahmad Lawan and House of Representatives Deputy Speaker Idris Wase.

Lawan told security agencies to stop the worsening insecurity across the states, including the Federal Capital Territory (FCT).

The motion at the House of Representatives was moved by Deputy Majority Leader Peter Akpatason and seconded by Minority Leader Ndudi Elumelu.

Elumelu said: “I want to beg members, Abuja is no longer safe. Please, if possible, go back to your constituency. The place is so insecure.”

Wase, who presided over the plenary, said no one should play politics with security, as it is everybody’s business.
