Atiku urges Tinubu to reduce petrol price
Former Vice President Atiku Abubakar has urged President Bola Tinubu to adopt his proposed economic measures and reduce the pump price of petrol in Nigeria.
Atiku, the presidential candidate of the African Democratic Congress in the 2027 election, made the call in a statement on Friday.
He said the Federal Government could implement his ideas and take credit for them if doing so would help reduce the hardship faced by Nigerians.
“Use my ideas, take the credit, but crash the price of petrol,” Atiku said.
He argued that the rising cost of petrol had continued to affect transportation, food prices and the general cost of living across the country.
The former vice president said the government should prioritise policies that would ease the burden on households and businesses.
He also called for measures capable of improving economic conditions and reducing the pressure of high energy costs on Nigerians.
Atiku has repeatedly criticised the Tinubu administration’s handling of the economy, particularly the impact of petrol prices and other reforms on citizens.
The Federal Government has maintained that its economic reforms are intended to stabilise the economy, attract investment and improve long-term growth.
