 Aviation Unions gives FAAN ultimatum, threatens strike action

Air transport unions have given an ultimatum of seven days to the Federal Airport Authority of Nigeria (FAAN) to rectify all shortfalls in the payment of workers’ salaries.

The Unions which includes, National Union of Air Transports Employees(NUATE), Air Transport Services Senior Association of Nigeria (ATSSAN) and Association of Nigeria Aviation Professionals(ANAP), have threatened an indefinite industrial strike against the Authority if demands are not met within seven days from the date of the notice.

The aviation workers made this demand in a letter addressed to the Managing Director of the FAAN, Capt. Rabiu Yadudu.

The Union, in the letter, demanded for the full payment of all outstanding salaries, pensions, allowances and tax
The letter stated that, “Management is hereby notified that if within seven days from the date of the notice all shortfalls in salary payments are not fully rectified and settled, our unions will commence an indefinite industrial action against the Authority.

“For the avoidance of doubt, the salary issues include: full payment of all outstanding salaries; full remittances of all outstanding co-operative, pensions, tax, etc deductions; full payment of all outstanding allowances, grants, claims.”

The Unions also charged all members nationwide to remain ready for any course of action that would be decided if their demands are not met.
