Real Madrid forward Gareth Bale, is reportedly close to sealing a move back to former club Tottenham, his agent Jonathan Barnett revealed on Wednesday.

The Welshman has fallen out of favor with head coach Zinedine Zidane and started just of Madrid’s matches after the coronavirus break.

He has said he would be open to returning to the English Premier League, and it seems Tottenham are the favourites to land the striker.

Speaking to AFP, Bale’s agent said of the transfer rumors: “It’s close but not done.” He also added that the deal was “complicated”.

Bale has two years before his 30-million-euros-a-year contract runs at Real Madrid.

The Spanish giants are reportedly willing to let Bale go without any up-front fee from Tottenham.

Spurs are said to prefer a loan move where Madrid will pay a certain part of the forward’s hefty wage bill.

Negotiations are still in progress between both clubs, with the player’s agent saying: “No problems, the clubs are negotiating.”

Meanwhile, former Spurs coach Harry Redknapp has said a Bale move to Tottenham would bring “that little bit of magic” to Tottenham who lost their season opener against Everton.

“It would be a fantastic signing for the club,” Redknapp said in an interview with the BBC.

“It would be great for Gareth to get back playing again. He’s such a talent, such a great player. It’s a waste to see him not playing.”
