Super Falcons striker, Asisat Oshoala has made it into the global shortlist for the Balloon d’ Or.

Weeks after becoming first Footballer in Africa, male or female, to be named Footballer of the Year for five times, the Barcelona striker on Friday, 12 August, 2022 became the first Female footballer from Africa to be nominated for the female Ballon d’Or award.

Asisat’s name was conspicuous on the list of shortlisted female footballer for the award.

She had a very stellar season winning the Pichichi award for the highest scorer in the Spanish Female Football League despite playing only 19 games as a result of injuries while she also steered Barcelona to the final of the UEFA Female Champions League where they lost to Olympique Lyon.
