Bayern Munich Set To Lose Stars After Champions League Triumph

Bayern Munich may be left feeling euphoric over their Champions League win on Sunday, but now they have to deal with the prospect of losing some of their top stars in the next transfer window.

According to reports, some Bayern players, including midfielder Thiago Alcantara and defender David Alaba, may depart the Bavarian club next season.

Alcantara, who has indicated his desire for a “fresh challenge”, has been involved in stalled negotiations with club, with just a year left on his contract.

When quizzed on the future of the playmaker, Head Coach Hansi Flick stated he was unsure of the situation, but said he expects to have more information on the playmaker’s status soon.

David Alaba has also been in talks with the club, although these talks have largely stalled.

However, German football legend, Oliver Kahn, also a member of Bayern’s board, said the German giants are “very, very” optimistic of holding on to the star defender.

One Bayern player, Philippe Coutinho, has already made his exit, going back to parent club Barcelona after a spell on loan.

Coutinho, who scored for Bayern as they defeated Barca 8-2 in the Champions League, hinted at his desire to improve on his shaky career at Barcelona.

“I will work to make sure that the things that haven’t happened so far will happen for me next season,” he vowed.
