Breaking: Messi Set To Leave Barcelona In Shock Move

Lionel Messi, arguably the best player to don the colors of Barcelona, has communicated his desire to leave the club.

This announcement comes 11 days after the forward played for Barca as they lost 8-2 to German club Bayern Munich in the quarterfinals of the Champions League.

Coming of the biggest defeat of his career, there were speculations Messi could call quits on his time with the club, where he has spent all of his professional career till date.

Now, the Argentine talisman has confirmed the rumors, reportedly sending a document to Barca’s board on Tuesday, asking to unilaterally terminate his contract with the club.

However, football experts have indicated a Messi transfer would be difficult, given the star’s wages and the present economic situation in Europe.

Despite this, there is no shortage of clubs willing to snap up Messi, nicknamed La Pulga (the Atomic Flea) for his exploits on the pitch.

Manchester City, currently headed by former Barcelona Coach, Pep Guardiola, are reportedly open to bringing in Messi to their star-studded team.

Paris Saint-Germain are another team who may be willing to pay the hefty wages that Messi will command. Presently, Messi’s former teammate, Neymar, plays for PSG and it is thought the two could link up to form a deadly strike partnership at the French club.

Wherever Messi ends up, there is no doubt his time at Barcelona, where he scored over 500 goals and won dozens of trophies, would be regarded as one of the greatest spells in the history of football.
