 Buhari addresses rescued Kankara boys; advises them to forget incident, focus on education

President Muhammadu Buhari on Friday evening met with 344 rescued schoolboys of Government Science Secondary School Kankara, and advised them to focus on educational goals.

The President met the students at the Government House, Katsina.

The Nation newspaper reported that Buhari who met and sympathised with the students also assured them that their future is bright.

He also admonished them to focus on their educational goals.
He said ”the future belong to the youths, especially those who are educated, as well as those who are in the sciences, which their school specialises on.”

The president said the students were lucky to have gone through such a harrowing incident and coming out unharmed.

“You’re lucky. Your school focuses on the sciences, and sciences are part of modernisation, which allows you to secure good jobs.”

“The future is not for those that read English language or History, but for those that read the sciences.

I hope you will forget what happened to you and focus on your education instead,” he added.
Buhari also used the occasion to call on security agencies to diligently carry out their duties in weeding out the bad eggs in the society.

More than 300 schoolboys were kidnapped by suspected bandits on Friday, December 11.

The boys, according to the Katsina state Governor, Aminu Masari, regained their freedom on Thursday, December 17 after govt officials negotiated with the bandits. The boys arrived at Katsina State on Friday morning.
