Chelsea has officially parted ways with Frank Lampard, the club announced today the 25th of January 2021.

The club in its statement stated that it was a very difficult decision and not one that the board took lightly.

“We are grateful to Frank for what he has achieved in his time as Head Coach of the Club. However, recent results and performances have not met the Club’s expectations, leaving the Club mid-table without any clear path to sustained improvement.”

“There can never be a good time to part ways with a club legend such as Frank, but after lengthy deliberation and consideration it was decided a change is needed now to give the Club time to improve performances and results this season.”

The firing of Lampard had been looming in light of underwhelming results in the English Premier League (EPL), despite spending £200 million in the summer, the club is currently 9th in the EPL with 29 points, 11 points off current league leaders Manchester United.

Fans on social media had been calling repeatedly for the sack of Lampard, with #LampardOut trending after some of their premier league matches, this was no different in his last EPL match as Chelsea’s boss, which resulted in a 2:0 defeat away to Leicester.

The club further stated that they wouldn’t be making any further comments until a new head coach is appointed, however it is rumored that Thomas Tuchel might be the next Chelsea boss, fingers are crossed to see who will take the hot seat and possibly change the fortunes at Stamford Bridge.
