COVID-19: Bakers may increase price of bread in Lagos, give reason

Bread bakers in Lagos State have announced increment in the price if bread in the state, claiming the cost of baking has gone up.

In a statement on Wednesday, the Chairman of the Association Of Master Bakers and Caterers of Nigeria (AMBCN), Lagos State chapter,  Amb. Raji Omotunde, said the new cost will commence in the next three weeks.

He noted that the increment in the price of bread became necessary due to the rising cost of baking materials.

He said the bakers also felt the pains of the consumers especially during the lockdown period but they could not do beyond their own power.

He however advised everyone to obey the additional 14 days stay at home order by President Muhammadu Buhari, of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.

Omotunde, who is a brand ambassador of Mama Gold Flour, assures that the association at the national level would be restructured to fight for the right of the members.
