 COVID-19 cases hit 542 in Nigeria, Lagos, Abuja, Kano on top

The Nigeria Centre for Disease Control, NCDC, has confirmed 49 new cases of coronavirus in Lagos, Federal Capital Territory (Abuja), Kano, Ogun, Oyo, and Ekiti states.

This brings the total number of infections in the country to 542 with 19 total fatalities on Saturday.

Out of the 49 new cases, 45 were recorded in Lagos, FCT, and Kano, while four were reported in Ogun, Oyo and Ekiti.

Lagos has the highest number of COVID-19 cases in Nigeria with 306 confirmed infections, followed by Abuja and Kano with 81 and 37 cases respectively.

The NCDC made this known via its Twitter handle on Saturday.

The Centre stated that the total number of coronavirus-related deaths has risen to 19 in the country.

It tweeted, “Forty-nine new cases of #COVID19 have been reported: 23 in Lagos, 12 in FCT, 10 in Kano, two in Ogun, one in Oyo and one in Ekiti.

“As of 10:40 pm on the 18th April there are 542 confirmed cases of #COVID19 reported in Nigeria. Discharged: 166; Deaths: 19.

“Number of states with confirmed cases of #COVID19: 19 + FCT. Currently, Lagos has 306 cases, FCT- 81, Kano- 37, Osun- 20, Oyo- 16, Edo- 15, Ogun- 12, Kwara- nine, Katsina- nine, Bauchi- six, Kaduna- six, Akwa Ibom- six, Delta- four, Ekiti- four, Ondo- three, Enugu- two, Rivers-two, Niger- two, Benue- one and Anambra- one.”
