 Man bags jail term for impersonating Gombe Senator

A suspect, Charles  Musa who was impersonating Senator Bulus, representing Gombe South to defraud some prominent Nigerians has been sentenced to five years’ imprisonment with an option of N510,000 fine on Monday.

The four counts case was brought before Justice J. Awak of the Gombe State High Court by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, Gombe Zonal office.

The EFCC said Musa was arrested in Jos, Plateau State, following a petition by  Amos that sometime in 2019, Musa defrauded some prominent people by impersonating him.

Musa pleaded guilty to the charges.

The prosecution counsel, G. I. Ndeh Esq, urged the court to convict the defendant based on his plea which the defense counsel, Babangida Mohammed, did not object to.

Justice Awak ordered that Musa paid N510,000.00) within three months from the date of sentence as restitution to the victims, failure of which  he would serve five years’ imprisonment.
