APC Appeal Committee Orders Re-run Of Primary Election In Kosofe Local Government

By Dayo Badmus,

The Appeal Committee set up by the Lagos State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) to tackle appeals by aggrieved Councillorship and Chairmanship aspirants who are not happy with the conduct of the Saturday, 29 May, 2021 primary elections, might have ordered the rerun of the exercise in Kosofe Local Government.

This was sequel to the Appeal filed by one of the aggrieved Chairmanship Aspirants in the local government, Musiliu Aigoro.

Aigoro had complained that the exercise in Kosofe did not conform with the guidelines laid down by the party hence a winner should not have been declared in the local government.

The Gazelle News.com can report that Moyosore Ogunlewe, son of former Minister of Works, Senator Adeseye Ogunlewe, was declared the winner of the primary election for the Chairmanship seat of the local government.

In its ruling on the Aigoro petition based on a report being circulated among party members, the Appeal Committee allegedly endorsed the petitioner’s grievances that the primary election in Kosofe LG did not comply with the party’s laid down guidelines and procedures.

The Committee reportedly ruled that “the primary election in Kosofe Local Government must be re-conducted in a free and fair atmosphere in compliance with the party’s laid down guidelines and procedures.

“The Chairmanship aspirant has the fundamental rights to vote and be voted for”.
