Three suspects have been apprehended for defrauding over 40 northern youths over job placements in security outfits.

In a video which surfaced online, the three men who were being questioned, spoke on their involvement in the crime.

Recall that there had been reports on the arrest of no fewer than 45 youths from the northern part of the country by the Ondo State Security Network, also known as Amotekun Corps.

SaharaReporters had reported that the youths, conveyed in a truck, were intercepted in front of the Okitipupa Army Barracks at about 10pm on Thursday and were taken to Akure, the state capital.

When interrogated, they said they were sent from the North to undergo military training in the barracks to be employed as security guards.

Adetunji Adeleye, Amotekun commander in the state, had said upon interrogation, it was discovered that the youths, who hailed from Kano and Jigawa states, were brought to the town for employment by a non-profit organisation for purported security training, The Cable reports.

In the viral video, where the suspects confessed involvement in the fraud, the alleged prime suspect who gave his name as Ayo, Reverend Bayo and doctor Folajimi Williams at the same time, admitted to receiving money from the victims.

He also confessed to have written a “fake” letter to the commanding officer of the Nigerian army in Ondo state about mobilising the youths for the purported training.

It was also gathered that the suspect had also sent out a WhatsApp broadcast message alerting residents in Ondo state that the northern youths who had arrived were terrorists.

TheCable reports that Tee-Leo Okoro, spokesman for the Ondo police, when contacted said the command had received the video but was yet to confirm if the persons being interviewed are the culprits.
