The Lagos State Sector Commander of Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), CC Olusegun Ogungbemide, charged motorists, especially those plying Lekki-Epe, Lagos-Ibadan expressways to be conscious of safety and avoid wrongful overtaking while behind the wheel.

He stated this as a result of crash that claimed six people’s lives on Sunday, March 27.

CC Ogungbemide, who spoke through the Sector Command’s Public Education Officer, Route Commander Olabisi Sonusi, said the crash occurred around 1800hrs (6pm) infront of Eleganza factory on the Lekki-Epe Expressway.

She opened that the crash involved a loaded tanker with PMS, a truck and a motorcycle and it killed a total of six male.

She further said the six male died in the inferno resulting from the collision of the loaded tanker with PMS and the truck, while the bike rider was caught up in the fire, adding that the corpses had been deposited at the mortuary.

She explained that CC Ogungbemide said joint efforts was made by FRSC, Lagos Fire service, Nigeria Police and other sister agencies to remove all the crashed vehicles off the road to ensure normalcy returned back to the axis.

RC Sonusi, further said the Sector Commander Ogungbemide, also advised motorists plying all roads to be careful and drive safe because the crash was as a result of recklessness of the two articulated vehicles while trying to overtake each other.
