Revealed: GTBank Deputy Head of Media Relations, Idoko Negedu didn’t die of COVID-19, friends, family condemn reports

Contrary to the reports that the GTBank Deputy Head of Media Relations, Idoko Negedu died of COVID-19 complications, the family of the deceased on Wednesday said the story is completely untrue.
Condemning the report connecting his death to COVID-19, a family member (Name withheld) who was with the late Idoko at the hospital before his death said it is unbelievable that people can cook up such story for whatever reason without verifying the fact.
The source said Idoko’s employer, GTBank has stopped physical operations since March due to the coronavirus pandemic and the order by the Federal Government.
He confirmed that late Idoko while working from home reported a domestic accident resulting to a fracture on his toe of which he had recovered since last month.
“To say he died of COVID-19 related complications without doctor’s report is bad and unforgivable”. He said.
Speaking exclusively to Lagos Street Journal, another source close to the deceased also confirmed that late Idoko was not sick.
she insisted that his death was not related to COVID-19, saying that prior to the incident, he had no sign of any form of sickness or symptoms of the virus.
“I spoke to him on Sunday morning before his death, the story that he has been struggling with coronavirus related disease is not true.” she said.
According to findings, the only sign of ill health linked to the deceased prior to his death which landed him at the hospital was Cardiac arrest.
Fact findings revealed that, he was at no point tested, diagnosed or treated for the coronavirus, and this obviously nolified the report of COVID-19 related death.
40-year old Negedu died on Sunday June 14, 2020. Before his death, he was a Senior member of the Corporate Communications and External Affairs Division of Guarantee Trust Bank.
He had also worked at Deloitte and Unilever Nigeria Plc. He was born on July 25, 1979.
