 Gunmen kill Northern APC Chieftain, kidnap many travellers on Kaduna-Abuja highway

Bandits have reportedly killed a former Zamfara State governorship aspirant and one time director of protocol at the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Alh Sagir Hamidu, in a kidnap attack on Kaduna-Abuja road.

Hamidu who is also a prominent chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Zamfara state, was on Sunday, November 21, killed by gunmen along the Abuja-Kaduna highway.

During the attack, the criminals also kidnapped many travellers, although the actual number of abducted persons is yet to be ascertained.

According to the locals, the gunmen opened fire on travellers, making many drivers to lose control, while many passengers who attempted to run were fired at, The Cable reports.

“When we heard gunshots, we quickly made a u-turn until after 2 hours when the bandits left that we continued our journey,” an eyewtiness said.

“On our way we saw over ten cars empty. The occupants might have been kidnapped or were able to run into the nearby forests for their lives.”

However, the police in Kaduna could not be reached for an inquiry about the incident.
