 Health commissioner, Abayomi tasks Lagosians on maintenance culture

The Lagos State Commissioner for Health, Prof. Akin Abayomi, has called on Lagosians to imbibe a maintenance culture.

Abayomi made this call while inspecting ongoing renovation work at the Isolo General Hospital.

The Commissioner, who frowned at the palpable state of disrepair and dilapidation of government facilities across the state, called for a change in attitude.

According to him, the ministry of health would launch an awareness campaign to reorientate the people, adding that the renovation work across the state health facilities is costing the government fortune.

The refurbishing exercise is in realization of the commitment of the Lagos State Governor, Mr. Babajide Sanwo-Olu, to refurbish all the general hospitals in the state.

The commissioner said the Lagos State government is determined to refurbish all its health facilities, fully equipped and make them operational to meet the health needs of the citizens.

The Medical Director/CEO of the hospital, Dr Godwin Akhabhoa, who welcomed the Commissioner conducted him round the hospital to inspect the renovation work.

Among the places inspected are: the physiotherapy clinic, accident and emergency, staff quarters, house officers’ quarters, among other places.

Abayomi assured that the renovation work, which commenced in February would be completed within six months, but asked the contractor to carry all stakeholders along.

He observed that the Isolo General Hospital has expanse of land that can accommodate any modern health facility.

Over the years, the hospital has rendered medical, surgical, physiotherapy, Opthalmology, obstetrics and gynaecology, Immunization, dental, heart to heart,pediatrics, Laboratory services, endoscopy, radiography, mammogram, Cardiology, neurology, health information management, nutrition and dietetics,nursing services,among others to its overwhelming clients,

Recently, the ear, nose and throat (E.N.T) and orthopedic clinics were launched in the hospital.
