Hoodlums break into Ogun Assembly, steal mace

Reports have it that some unidentified hoodlums broke into the Ogun State House of Assembly and carted away the mace.
Punch reports that some suspected hoodlums on Thursday burgled the office of the Speaker of Ogun State House of Assembly, Olakunle Oluomo, and stole the assembly’s mace.
The incident has been confirmed by the spokesman for the Ogun State Police Command, Abimbola Oyeyemi.
He said investigation into the incident has commenced.
“Yes, there is an unfortunate incident today in the assembly complex. The hoodlums broke into the assembly through the ceiling and removed the official mace of the house. That is why the Commissioner of Police has to go there for an on-the-spot assessment.”
Oyeyemi said the coat of the arm has been recovered but the stick is still missin. He stated that further information would be given on the recovery of the entire mace.
