 IGP reacts as EndSARS protesters kill policeman, injure another in Delta

Inspector-General of Police, Mohammed Adamu, has condemned the killing of a police officer by EndSARS protesters in Ughelli, Delta State.

The EndSARS protesters allegedly attacked and killed a police officer, Corporal Etaga Stanley attached to the ‘A’ Division, Ughelli, Delta State.

Another police officer, Sergeant Patrick Okuone, reportedly sustained body injuries after being attacked by the protesters.

Reports also have it that the said protesters also carted away an AK-47 rifle and about 25 rounds of live ammunition belonging to the slain police officer.

Reacting to the incident, the IGP stated in a statement that the police would not condone further attacks on security operatives by protesters.

According to him, citizens had the right to protest and air their grievances and concerns. But they must do so responsibly while ensuring utmost compliance with the law.

He expressed sympathy with the family of the slain corporal, and praised men of the Delta for their restraint under provocation.

The police boss also instructed the Delta State Commissioner of Police to investigate the incident and prosecute all those involved.
