Ikeja Electric Plc has attributed the reduction in electricity supply hours across its network to a shortfall in the amount of power allocated to it from the national grid.

The electricity distribution company disclosed this in a public notice, explaining that the reduced allocation had affected the hours of supply available to customers.

“We wish to inform customers across Ikeja Electric network that the reduced hours of electricity supply is due to a shortfall in the amount of power currently allocated to our network from the national grid,” the company said.

Ikeja Electric acknowledged the inconvenience caused by the development and appealed to customers for patience and understanding.

The company said it was engaging relevant stakeholders to improve the available electricity supply.

“Please be assured that we are actively engaging the relevant stakeholders to improve the available power supply and will continue to distribute the power received from the grid as efficiently and equitably as possible,” it added.

The DisCo also promised to keep customers informed as the situation develops.

The development comes amid continuing challenges in Nigeria’s electricity sector, with distribution companies facing fluctuations in the volume of power available from the national grid.

Ikeja Electric urged customers to remain patient while efforts to improve supply continue.
