 Islamic Group, Sisters of Jannah donates foods, relief materials to inmates, orphanage

As party of its humanitarian services, an Islamic non-governmental organization (NGO), sisters of Jannah, Lagos zone has donated foods and other items to the prison inmates at Kirikiri correctional centre and the Bab-es-Sallam orphanage home all in Lagos State.

According to the group, the items were donated to ease the beneficiaries and support their needs during the holy month of Ramadan.

Some of the items donated at the orphanage include a 7.5kg washing machine, pressing irons, calculators, toiletries, writing materials and many more.

In the same vein, the group donated items such as foods, toiletries, buckets and others to the inmates at the correctional centre.

The group also shared relief packs containing food items to poor fasting Muslims along Lagos-Ibadan Expressway.

Speaking about the gesture, the deputy coordinator of the group, Mrs. Onsurat Alagbe said the gesture was part of the group’s effort to assist government in many of its numerous responsibilities.

She added that the effort was geared towards earning extra reward especially in the holy month of Ramadan as stipulated in the holy Qur’an.

Quoting verses of the Qur’an, Alagbe said doing good during the holy month attracts rewards in many folds than doing it in other months, saying the donors of the items are expected to receive more rewards from the Almighty Allah.

Also speaking, the publicity secretary of the group, Mrs. Shakira Adeleke said for the past three weeks that Ramadan has started, the group has shared both raw and cooked foods to the less privileged in the society.

She stated that the organisation does the same in each of its zones across the country, saying the group has a well organised coordination for its affairs.

She, therefore, sought Allah’s acceptability of their efforts as acts of worship as she prayed for the emancipation of the country from the various atrocities befalling the nation especially in term of security and economy.
