Jandon may win Lagos PDP Guber Ticket as four aspirants withdraw

The coast is clear for Olajide Adeniran popularly known as Jandor to emerge as Lagos Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) governorship candidate for the 2023 poll.

This is as a result of the withdrawal of a former Lagos State chairman of the party, Engr. Adedeji Doherty; former Director-General, Nigerian Maritime Administration and Safety Agency, (NIMASA), Dr. Shamsudeen Ade Dosunmu and two other aspirants from gubernatorial race.

In a statement issued on Wednesday, Dosunmu said his decision to quit the governorship race was informed by the “anomaly” that rocked the Lagos PDP, stating that he has lost confidence in the party.

He noted that the inability of the PDP national body to correct the abnormality in the delegates’ list sent to the state is the reason he made the decision to step down, alleging that the national body seeks to “favour a particular aspirant”.

Dosunmu said the state chairman of the party, Hon. Phillip Olabode Alvoji had earlier complained “that the list did not reflect the 3 Ad-hoc delegates that emerged from the 245 wards of the state.”

He said: “In view of the above, I have lost confidence in the exercise and will therefore not participate in these primaries so long as the wrong list will be used. I thank all my teeming supporters across the state for their overwhelming support and the confidence they have shown during the course of our campaign . I urge you all to remain calm as you will be informed of our next line of action.”
