Bandits kill driver, kidnap 33 people in Kaduna

Some bandits on Wednesday night invaded Madaka community in Kachia Local Government Area of Kaduna State, killed one person and kidnapped no fewer than 33 residents of the area.
It was gathered that the bandits invaded the community at about 10:30 pm and started shooting sporadically at anything on sight.
Residents were said to have scampered to safety, with several sustaining varying degrees of injury.
District Head of Kachia ward, Idris Suleiman who confirmed the incident said the bandits in their large numbers first attacked a bakery where they kidnaped five persons and killed the driver to the owner of the bakery, before moving to another area called Mother Cat where they also kidnapped 28 persons including a pregnant woman.
He further said the bandits looted several shops within the town after the traders abandoned their shops and scampered for safety to avoid being caught in the crossfire.
It was gathered that the military intervention averted more fatality even as it was learnt that the bandits operated for more than two hours carting away foodstuffs.
