The Lagos State Government has declared Thursday, August 20, 2026, a work-free day for public servants in the state to commemorate this year’s Isese Day.

Isese Day is an annual celebration dedicated to Yoruba culture, spirituality and indigenous traditions.

The declaration is part of the state government’s efforts to promote and preserve indigenous culture and support the recognition of traditional institutions.

The holiday will allow public servants and residents to participate in activities marking the occasion.

Isese Day is observed annually on August 20, with celebrations taking place across several parts of South-West Nigeria.

The declaration applies to public servants in Lagos State, while private organisations and federal institutions may operate according to their respective arrangements.
