Lagos govt debunks Sanwo-Olu resignation rumours
The Lagos State Government has dismissed reports claiming that Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu was asked to resign over health concerns, describing the claims as false and misleading.
The denial followed a viral report alleging that the governor had been pressured to step down due to ill health, with his deputy expected to take over. In response, the government, through the governor’s media aide, said the report was entirely untrue and an attempt to misinform the public.
According to the statement, no one has asked Sanwo-Olu to resign, and he is not under any form of pressure to leave office.
The government insisted that the governor is in good health, mentally fit, and continues to carry out his duties effectively.
Officials also noted that the governor remains actively engaged in governance and recently held routine meetings, countering claims that he was incapacitated.
The state government urged the public to disregard the report and rely on verified information from official sources, warning against the spread of false news capable of misleading residents.
