Lagos Lawmaker says Nigerian youths are high on drugs, needs orientation

A lawmaker at the Lagos State House of Assembly, Mojisola Alli-Macaulay, says that Nigerians youths need to be properly orientated because most of them are on drugs all the time.

Ali-Macauley who is representing Amuwo Odofin constituency 1 of Lagos state, said this during a plenary at the state House of Assembly on looting and chaos in the aftermath of the #EndSARS protest.

According to her, ““The National Orientation Agency needs to get to work. We need to begin to orientate our young people. They need people who can talk to them from time to time. They are high on drugs all the time, most of them. They go to social media and say all sorts of things.”

Also speaking on the looting spree in the state, she said that unemployment should not be used as an excuse for looting.

The lawmaker said that unemployment is not exclusive to Nigeria and is all around the world.

She argued that youths without jobs should look within and capitalize on their talents instead of complaining.

“Even if you are a graduate, what stops you from being a designer or a professional tile man and make a brand of it? There is no excuse for being a hoodlum,” she said.
