Lagos: Mother, five-month-old baby rescued from canal

Operatives of the Lagos State Environmental Sanitation Corps, popularly known as Kick Against Indiscipline (KAI), have rescued a mother and her five-month-old baby from a canal in Lagos.

The incident occurred on Wednesday, August 26, 2026, when the woman and her baby were found inside the canal.

The environmental officers reportedly responded after receiving information about the incident and moved to the scene to rescue the mother and child.

Both victims were brought out of the canal alive and handed over for necessary medical attention and further assistance.

The circumstances that led to the woman and her baby ending up in the canal were not immediately clear.

Authorities are expected to investigate the incident and establish how the mother and child fell into the canal.
