Lagos speaker Obasa mourns Ogogo, describes late actor as ‘towering figure’ in Nollywood

The Speaker of the Lagos State House of Assembly, Mudashiru Obasa, has mourned the death of veteran Nollywood actor, Taiwo Hassan, popularly known as Ogogo.

Obasa described the late actor as a “towering figure in Nollywood”, whose death represented a loss to the Nigerian film industry and the country.

In a condolence message, the Speaker extended his sympathies to Ogogo’s family, friends, colleagues and admirers.

He noted the late actor’s contributions to Nollywood, particularly the Yoruba film industry, where he established himself as a prominent figure over the years.

Obasa prayed for the repose of Ogogo’s soul and urged his family and loved ones to find strength in the memories he left behind.

Ogogo died on Sunday at the age of 66 after battling cancer. His death has triggered an outpouring of tributes from colleagues, political leaders and other Nigerians.
