 LASG announces three-day closure of the Third Mainland Bridge

The Lagos State Government has made known the three-day closure of the Third Mainland Bridge, which will commence on Saturday till Monday midnight.

According to a statement issued on Thursday, this is to complete repair works on the double-sized expansion joints.

State Commissioner for Transportation, Dr. Frederic Oladeinde, said the repair work is to ensure that the set deadline for complete reopening of the bridge is met.

Also, motorists were advised to make use of alternative routes in getting to their destinations with minimal discomfort.

“Motorists from Ogudu, Alapere and Gbagada are advised to use Ikorodu Road, Jibowu and Yaba as alternative routes, while Iyana Oworosoki bound traffic from the Lagos Island, Iddo, Oyingbo, Adekunle and Yaba should use Herbert Macaulay Way, Jibowu and Ikorodu road as alternative routes,” the commissioner said.

He added that traffic management personnel would be available to minimise and address any traffic impediments during the closure.
