Lawmaker Who Beat, Tore Traffic Official’s Uniform for Arresting His Wife Elected Edo Assembly Dep-Speaker

Hon. Roland Asoro, the member representing Orhionmwon II Constituency in the Edo State House of Assembly (EDHA) has been elected Deputy Speaker.

Asoro’s election followed the impeachment on Wednesday of the former holder of the office,

Yekini Idiaye who is representing Akoko-Edo Constituency I in the assembly.

Asoro came into spotlight in 2019, when he molested a traffic officer of the Edo State Traffic Management Agency (EDSTMA),

Osaretin Osazuwa, who had the effrontery to arrest his wife for flouting traffic laws.

Report said Asoro did not only beat Osazuwa, he also marched him to the office of the agency

where he further assaulted him in the presence of the Managing Director of the agency, Mr. Dennis Oloriegbe,

who was too subdued to do anything.

The lawmaker reportedly also kicked the officer in his private parts and allegedly tore his uniform.

The wife was also alleged to have bitten Osazuwa.

Idiaye’s impeachment by lawmakers in the assembly came days after he declared support for Osagie Ize-Iyamu,

an opponent to the current Governor Godwin Obaseki in the Edo State governorship election
