 LG Elections: LASIEC begins validation of candidates’ documents tomorrow

The Lagos State Independent Electoral Commission (LASIEC) will tomorrow, July 1, commence the validation of documents of candidates of all political parties competing in the forthcoming Local Government elections.

The validation exercise, as contained in the timetable released by the electoral umpire and obtained by Lagos Street Journal, will begin tomorrow and concluded on Tuesday, July 6.

Thursday and Friday are for candidates of the All Progressives in Agege LGA, Orile Agege LCDA, Alimosho LGA, Agbado Oke-Odo LCDA, Ayobo Ipaja LCDA, Egbe Idimu LCDA, Igando-Ikotun LCDA, Mosan Okunola LCDA, Ajeromi Ifelodun LGA, Ifelodun LCDA Amuwo Odofin LGA, Oriade LCDA, Badagry LGA, Badagry West LCDA, Olorunda LCDA, Ifako Ijaiye LGA, Ojokoro LCDA, Ikeja LGA, Ojodu LCDA, Onigbongbo LCDA, Mushin LGA, Odi-Olowo LCD, Ojo LGA, Oto Awori LCDA, Iba LCDA, Oshodi Isolo, Isolo LCDA, Ejigbo LCDA and Eti Osa LGA, Ikoyi Obalende LCDA, Iru Victoria Island LCDA, Apapa LGA, Apapa Iganmu LCDA, Lagos Island LGA, Lagos Island East LCDA, Surulere LGA, Coker Aguda LCDA, Itire Ikate LCDA, Lagos Mainland LGA, Yaba LCDA, Epe LGA, Eredo LCDA, Ikosi Ejirin LCDA, Ibeju Lekki LGA, Lekki LCDA, Ikorodu LGA, Ikorodu West LCDA, Ikorodu North LCDA, Igbogbo Baiyeku LCDA, Ijede LCDA, Imota LCDA, Shomolu LGA, Bariga LCDA, Kosofe LGA, Agboyi Ketu LCDA and Ikosi Isheri LCDA, respectively.

While Saturday and Sunday have been set aside for candidates of the opposition People’s Democratic Party (PDP) in similar order.

Similarly, candidates of the other 12 political parties participating in the election will be attended to on Monday and Tuesday, respectively.

The political parties are Accord Party, Action Alliance, African Democratic Party (ADP), African Action Congress (AAC), All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA), Allied People’s Movement (APM), Because Of Our Tomorrow Party (BOOT), Labour Party, National Rescue Movement (NRM), New Nigeria People’s Party (NNPP), Social Democratic Party (SDP) and Young Progressives Party (YPP).

As contained in the election guidelines released by the electoral umpire, documents required of candidates of any political party include Curriculum Vitae, Birth certificate or sworn affidavit of age:
(Minimum age for Councillorship candidate is 25 years while the minimum age for Chairmanship candidate is 30 years), Party membership card; Candidate’s Voter Registration Card; Sponsor’s Voters Registration Cards, Educational qualification (up to Secondary School Certificate or its equivalent); and Letter of disengagement from previous employment
(Disengagement from employment in the public service of the Federation, of
any State, or of any Local Government should have taken place at least 30 days
before the election).

The exercise will be from 10:00 am to 6:00 pm on daily basis.
