Liverpool sign French defender Jeremy Jacquet in £60m transfer
Liverpool have completed the signing of France Under-21 defender Jeremy Jacquet from Rennes in a deal reportedly worth up to £60 million ($79 million).
The 20-year-old centre-back has signed a five-year contract with the Premier League giant after Liverpool reached an agreement with Rennes in January.
The deal also includes an option to extend his stay by a further year, subject to international clearance.
Jacquet is expected to be fit for the start of Liverpool’s pre-season preparations after recovering from the shoulder injury he sustained in February, which ruled him out for the remainder of the French club’s campaign.
“I feel really good, the first impressions are good and I am very happy to start here,” Jacquet told Liverpool’s website on Wednesday. “It’s a big dream for me.”
Jacquet made 33 senior appearances for Ligue 1 side Rennes after coming through their youth ranks. He spent the 2024/25 season on loan at Clermont.
