Liverpool walk alone after rough night at the Villa

Liverpool were today handed the biggest defeat in their premier league history after Aston Villa beat them 7-2 at Villa Park on Sunday night.
From the first whistle, Aston Villa looked ready to kill and ran riot over the Liverpool defense, which was feeling the absence of star goalie Alisson.
Ollie Watkins, who had not scored in the Premier League before this match, opened the scoring in the fourth minute after a horrendous mistake by replacement goalkeeper Adrian.
Another magical moment by Watkins in the 22nd minute doubled the hosts’ lead. Having received a wonderful pass from Jack Grealish, the forward smashed into the top corner from close range to make it 2-0.
Mohammed Salah gave Liverpool a moment of hope in the 33rd minute after scoring a volley to make it 2-1. However, a strike by James McGinn two minutes later put all thoughts of a comeback to bed.
From then on, the match turned into a one-sided affair which saw Aston Villa score three goals in 20 minutes against their illustrious rivals.
Watkins completed his hat-trick with a 39th minute strike while new signing Ross Barkley grabbed his first goal in an Aston Villa shirt in the 55th minute after being fed by Grealish.
Salah grabbed a goal in the 60th minute for the visitors, to which Villa responded by scoring in the 66th and 75th minute to complete an unlikely victory against the Reds.
This marks Liverpool’s biggest EPL defeat since they lost 7-2 to Tottenham Hotspur in April 1963. It also marks the first time Liverpool conceded six or more goals since a 6-1 defeat to Stoke City in 2015.
