Mailafia to appear before DSS again

Mailafia to appear before DSS again

By Emmanuel Awosika

The troubles of former Deputy Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria, Dr. Obadiah Mailafia, are far from over as the DSS invited him for yet another round of questioning.

Mailafia had found himself in hot water after he declared on radio that one of the Governors in Northern Nigeria was a Boko Haram commander.

Since then, he has appeared at the Jos office of the DSS twice. The Nigerian Police Force also invited him for questioning, although he declined the invitation.

Mailafia confirmed that he had been ordered to appear at the DSS office in Jos.

He said, “It is true. I have been invited to their office in Jos. I was asked to appear at 11 am on Monday.”

Just last month, the ex-CBN Deputy Governor prayed a High Court sitting in Plateau State to enforce his right to personal liberty and right to fair hearing in order to stop the police from arresting him.

Sequel to the DSS invitation, Mailafia called on well-meaning Nigerians to pray for his safety, adding that some political forces were people were out to silence him forever for speaking the truth.

“Please, those of you in the Jos area or who can easily travel to Jos, please kindly mobilise and be there en masse to support me on Monday at 11.00 am as I go once again into the Lions’ Den. I’m a believer in nonviolence. Please, no-one should throw even a little stone on my behalf. Let us become candles of light and peace in this Age of Darkness. Thank you so immensely and may God bless you all,” he pleaded.
