 Maina extradited to Nigerian, IGP promises legal action

The Nigerian Police Force has extradited former Pension Reform Task Team Chairman, Abdulrashid Abdullahi Maina, from Niamey, Niger Republic to Nigeria on Thursday.

Maina was apprehended in Niger after a court in Nigeria declared him wanted over criminal charges brought against him.

His arrest resulted from the combined efforts of the Nigeria Police Force, INTERPOL NCB, Abuja and their Nigerien counterparts.

Maina was extradited after the Nigeria INTERPOL team, headed by Commissioner of Police, INTERPOL division, CP Garba Umar, filed the necessary paperwork and completed the extradition process.

The former pension agency boss arrived the country on Thursday afternoon aboard NPF Jet 5N-HAR aircraft.

Inspector-General of Police, Adamu Adamu, commended the transnational cooperation that led to the successful arrest and extradition of Maina, adding that the suspect would face prosecution soon enough.
