 Man arrested for murder of lover in Lagos

The Lagos State Police Command has arrested one Segun Titilayo who allegedly killed his lover and buried her corpse at a site in Otolu town, Akodo, in the Lekki Local Council Development Area of Lagos State.

Reportedly, the deceased, identified as Oritoke Manni, visited Titilayo at his house in Otolu but went missing shortly afterwards.

Manni’s relatives launched a search for her, eventually filing a missing person’s report for her after all effors to locate her bore no fruit.

However, the case took a new twist when an engineering company exhumed the victim’s corpse while excavating its site around the Otolu area.

The engineer overseeing the excavation effort had reported the incident to the police who asked workers at the hotel where Manni worked as a bar attendant to identify the body.

Police Public Relations Officer, Muyiwa Adejobi, said in a statement on Thursday that the police started a manhunt for suspect which led to his eventual arrest.

He also said the suspect was presently undergoing investigationat the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) Panti.

He added: “The state Commissioner of Police, Lagos State, Hakeem Odumosu, has condemned the crime and directed the Deputy Commissioner of Police in charge of the State CID, DCP Yetunde Longe, to carry out thorough investigation into the matter.

“The CP cautions the youth, especially ladies, against keeping unscrupulous and destructive friends. He also encourages Lagosians to promote moral values and shun crimes and criminality.”
