Man axes father to death in gruesome murder

Police have arrested a, Johnson Ogbu, who killed his aged father with an axe in Aji Community in Igbo Eze North Local Government Area of Enugu State.
According to the facts of the case, Johnson brutally attacked his father with an axe and later buried his corpse in a shallow grave near the victim’s residence.
Johnson had reportedly experienced some form of mental illness in the past, although he was later cured and became a cobbler.
Reports say father and son were alone in the house on the fateful day after the mother left to celebrate the new day with the Umuidenyi clan at the Umuidenyi Town Hall.
It was gathered that Johnson had set up on his father during that time, smashing his skull with an axe and later buried the body.
Allegedly, Johnson’s mother asked about whereabouts of the victim to which he replied that the man had complained of illness and was visiting a doctor.
“We looked for him for three days, combing all the hospitals around. It was when we failed to locate him that we alerted the members of the Aji Neighbourhood Watch Group, which in turn alerted the police. The police arrived on Friday morning alongside members of the neighbourhood watch and later found a shallow grave near the compound where William was buried in a standing position.
His head was broken while Johnson used another sharp object to perforate his stomach and other parts of his body,” a member of the family said.
As of the time of writing, the suspect has been arrested by the Enugu Police Command.
