Man United €100m bid for Dortmund star rejected

German Bundesliga side Dortmund have rejected an offer from Manchester United to pay 100 million euros for Jadon Sancho.

According to a Sky Sports report, Dortmund rejected the offer as it fell below the €108m they were demanding.

“The offer was for an initial £73m, rising to up to £91.3m, which fell short of Dortmund’s £108m valuation,” the Sky Sports report said.

The Red Devils have been targeting Sancho for much of the summer transfer window, but it remains unclear if they can land him before the window closes in October.

Ole Gunnar Solksjaer is looking to strengthen his team after they look to improve on last season’s third place finish in the English Premier League.

So far, Dutch midfielder Donny Van Beek, who arrived Old Trafford from Ajax, is Manchester United’s only signing in this season’s transfer window.

Dortmund have reiterated their decision to hold on to Sancho for another season following United’s failure to table an acceptable offer for the player before the August 10 deadline set by the club.

Head of Dortmund’s Player Department, Sebastian Kehl, said “Jadon Sancho will play for Dortmund this season” after the forward scored in the 5-0 drubbing of Duisburg in the German Cup early this month.

Dortmund captain Marco Reus also told Sky Germany that the “We all were happy that he will be with us for one more year because he delivers assists and goals, so we get points.”

He added: “If he gets as big as (Lionel) Messi or (Cristiano) Ronaldo, we will see. He needs time, experience and it will be important how he manages the times when things don’t go so well. But he has the confidence and the quality.”

United, who have faced criticism from fans over their inactivity in the transfer market, have endured a mixed start to the season, losing 3-1 to Crystal Palace at home.
