The newly appointed Director General of the Standard Organisation of Nigeria (SON), Farouk Salim, has resumed in office.

Salim Farouk took over from the former DG, Mr Osita Aboloma, whose tenure expired in September.

The handover ceremony took place in Abuja, in the presence of the Minister of Industry, Trade and Investment, Niyi Adebayo.

Salim pledged his commitment towards promoting public safety, ensuring standard in local manufacturing and import and export. He also promised to create an environment that would enable innovations geared towards stimulating self sufficiency.

He further promised to position SON for national socioeconomic development. This he said would be achieved through organisational restructuring, quality assurance and project management.
