NIN now compulsory for vehicle registration- FRSC

By Modupe Shodeinde

The Federal Road Safety Corps has made mandatory the provision of a National Identity Number (NIN), before Nigerians can register their vehicles.

According to the FRSC spokesperson, Bisi Kazeem, the directive was given by the Presidency.

He stated that “Beginning from the second quarter of this year (2021), If you want to register your vehicle, it is going to be compulsory for you to provide your NIN.

“This is part of the security checks. So once you provide your NIN, it makes the matter easier and helps the government in national planning, critical decision making and also enhance adequate Intelligence gathering for security of lives and properties.”

He explained that the presentation of the NIN will be a precondition for registration of vehicles.

He cautioned that no one would be exempted from this directive, irrespective of status.
