Ogun state orders full reopening of religious centres and public places

The Governor of Ogun state, Dapo Abiodun, has ordered the full reopening of religious centres, businesses and other public places across the state on Wednesday.

This came after the relative success of the state in curbing the spread of the corona virus.

The governor had earlier ordered the closure of religious centres, businesses and schools in March. This was in a move to check the spread of the novel coronavirus disease.

In August, he announced the reopening of only worship centres and schools subject to guidelines of the safety measures.

Abiodun on Wednesday in a statement by the chief press secretary, Kunle Somorin, on Twitter, declared the full reopening of public places in the state.

The statement read: “Ogun State is fully reopening sectors with our decision to allow maximum operations of hotels, restaurants, lounges, bars and cinemas, considering the fall in confirmed Covid-19 cases.

“Schools, markets and worship centres may also revert to regular schedule”

According to the him, guidelines have been put in place regarding Covid-19 public safety measures and any centre found violating these regulations would be reported by a task force for appropriate actions.
