 Payday for Lyon as captain Depay bags three assists in 3-2 win

Memphis Depay carried over his fine form from the international break, setting up three goals as Lyon beat Strasbourg 3-2 in their Ligue 1 encounter. The result marked Lyon’s first win since August.

Depay, who bagged an assist while on international duty for Netherlands, provided three assists in the first half to gift Lyon ta three-goal lead in the first half.

Zimbabwe striker, Tino Kadewere, opened Lyon’s goalscoring account in the first half after a getting a through ball from Depay.

Depay then assisted forward Toko Ekambi twice before the match clock reached the 42nd minute mark to allow Lyon end the half with a comfortable 3-0 lead.

However, the hosts would attempt to claw their way back into the match, scoring two goals of Senegalese striker, Diallo, and Cote D’Ivoire midfielder, Aholou, respectively.

But they failed to get the last goal that would have seen them steal a draw and improve on their 18th position in the Ligue 1.

In other matches played over the weekend, Marseille beat Bordeaux 3-1 while PSG thrashed Nimes 4-0.
