Former Labour Party presidential candidate, Peter Obi, has said he does not have evidence to prove that he won the 2023 presidential election.

Obi made the statement while discussing the outcome of the 2023 election and the legal challenges that followed the declaration of President Bola Tinubu as the winner.

The former Anambra State governor said claims about the election result should be based on verifiable facts and evidence.

He noted that while there were controversies surrounding the conduct and outcome of the poll, proving an electoral victory required concrete evidence.

Obi was one of the major contenders in the 2023 presidential election, alongside Tinubu of the All Progressives Congress and Atiku Abubakar of the Peoples Democratic Party.

The Independent National Electoral Commission declared Tinubu the winner, with Atiku finishing second and Obi third.

Obi and the Labour Party challenged the result at the Presidential Election Petition Court, alleging irregularities in the conduct of the election.

The petition was dismissed, while the Supreme Court later upheld Tinubu’s victory.

Obi has remained active in Nigerian politics and is expected to play a role in discussions surrounding the 2027 general elections.
