Peter Obi warns against normalising abductions, ransom demands
The presidential candidate of the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC), Peter Obi, has warned Nigerians against accepting abductions and ransom demands as part of everyday life.
Obi said the increasing frequency of kidnappings and the payment of ransoms should not become normalised in the country.
He urged the government to intensify efforts to protect citizens and tackle insecurity across the country.
According to him, Nigerians must continue to demand accountability and insist on effective measures to prevent abductions.
Obi also called for stronger security measures to ensure that those responsible for kidnapping and other violent crimes are arrested and prosecuted.
He said the government must prioritise the safety of Nigerians and restore confidence in the country’s security system.
The former Anambra State governor has repeatedly raised concerns over killings, kidnappings and other forms of insecurity across the country.
