Petrol at ₦1,470/litre: Atiku questions Tinubu govt over subsidy savings

Former Vice President Atiku Abubakar has questioned the Federal Government over the increase in the price of petrol to ₦1,470 per litre.

Atiku raised the concern while demanding clarification on the savings reportedly made from the removal of fuel subsidy under President Bola Tinubu.

The former vice president asked the government to explain how the subsidy savings were being used and what Nigerians had gained from the policy.

He also expressed concern over the effect of the rising petrol price on the cost of transportation, food and other essential goods.

Atiku has repeatedly criticised the Tinubu administration’s economic policies, particularly the removal of fuel subsidy and the resulting increase in the cost of living.

The former vice president is the presidential candidate of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) in the 2027 general election.

His latest criticism comes amid continued public concerns over petrol prices and the impact of rising living costs on Nigerians.
