 (PHOTOS) Lagosians stranded on third-mainland bridge as police enforce new curfew order

Doctors, off-duty policemen, other essential workers denied access. 

Against the usual curfew order since President Muhammadu Buhari announced gradual easing of lockdown, the Lagos State Police Command before 8pm on Tuesday night blocked motorists transporting Lagos residents from the island at Iyana Oworo, causing huge traffic on the third-mainland bridge.

Speaking to our correspondent, the men of the Iyana-Oworo police command said total lockdown was their new order and nobody is exempted.

But the stranded motorists who claimed to have reached the spot before 8pm said the DPO misunderstood the order.

A man who only identified himself as doctor at Lagos Island Hospital condemned the situation. “look at my pass. Look at it. I showed the DPO and I even identify myself but he won’t let me pass. Meanwhile, Bariga policemen on the other side of the road are allowing essential workers to pass. He said.
